January 28, 2006.Cloudy,intermittent morning rains.Some sun occasionally came through.The Monster Energy Pro prelims were held in clean 4 to 6ft swells.The afternoon turned sunny but the ocean became rough and choppy due to gusting side-shore winds.
The Pipeline Masters Bodysurfing Contest occupies the same holding period as the Monster's Energy Pro Contest.The nod was given to the Monster's Pro instead of the Pipe Masters on this particular northwest, winter swell.
